Description: Bella has always shared her mother's hatred of the small Washington town of Forks where her father lives, but now she's voluntarily choosing to move there to live with her dad while her mother pursues a more mobile lifestyle with her new husband. At the high school in Forks, Bella is an immediate success, befriended by one of the most popular girls in school and pursued by one of the most popular boys. Everyone loves Bella. Everyone except the movie-star perfect Edward, who seems to loathe Bella on sight. But when Edward saves Bella from being hit by a car despite having been on the other side of the parking lot mere seconds before, it seems that Edward must not hate her so much after all. Bella's quest to discover who (and what) Edward really is eventually leads to the realization that he is a vampire...and he craves Bella's blood more than any he's ever encountered before. While Edward and Bella endeavor to work out their relationship, another vampire scents a challenge, and soon Bella's life is at risk from more than just Edward's blood lust.
Review: "Twilight" is the best YA vampire novel I have ever read. Readers will be able to relate to clumsy but certainly not helpless Bella and will fall in love with the dark and mysterious, but cutely geeky Edward. Their relationship is very believable; Meyer explores difficulties of a vampire/human relationship that aren't usually addressed in vampire stories. Bella's quest to discover Edward's true identity and their subsequent tentative romance is a decent plot in itself, and the homocidal vampire plot near the end of the novel only adds to the excitement factor. The almost mundane events of life as a high school student serve to anchor the story in reality, making the paranormal aspects that much more believable. No one should miss out on this amazing piece of young adult literature.
I have to agree. This novel was awesome - more than I had anticipated. The characters were far from these cliched, over-romanticized, shallow lovers you see plastered to so many YA novels -and honestly I think that's what made the novel. I also loved Meyer's twists on vampires - she definitly pressed for something original.
Plus, I loved the climax. Who doesn't love the sadistic nature of the bloodlusting vampire?
Posted by: Chelsea at December 14, 2005 02:11 AMI completely agree. I've thought so much after I had gotten done reading the last page. I stayed up till 4 am to finish it! It was worth it.
I rented the book for my school library, I think I'm going to buy it...when I get some cash.

the best book in the world for scary romantic readers. unbelieveably the most passionate and at the same time chilling as bella spends every minute with edward. once you start to read you can't stop. it must be finished until the end. everyone should read twilight. thank you stephenie meyer!
Posted by: isabella o. at January 19, 2006 05:36 PMI usually don't talk about the books I like, but it would be vampirishly evil not to tell people about Twilight.
Posted by: Alex at February 25, 2006 03:28 PMI love this book!!! After reading the first chapter it was like I was addicted to the book itself! I'm waiting impatiently for the second book to come out!
Posted by: Claire Taylor at March 3, 2006 10:16 PMOMG!!! This is the best romantic book I have ever read in my life! My expentations of this book were nothing near about how I feel about it today!(Come on it's about a vampire falling in love!) I had to read each page till the very end or I whent crazy. After reading this book I couldn't stop thinking about it, in the shower or driving on my way to school, I would think about it non stop. I am counting down the seconds till the second book "New Moon" comes out so I can read something else than "Twilight" This is truely the best book ever. Sadly, It has changed my life!! Since my friend recomended this book to me I can't read anything else because nothing can compete to it!Thank you so much Stephenie Meyer I really love this book!

Posted by: Hailey at April 14, 2006 05:02 PMlet me just say that this book has re-awakened by obsession with vampires. it has been a while since i was able to read a book that pulled me into a different world . . . i find myself constantly thinking about it . . . i know i sound crazy, but im just being honest . . .oh my god!!! and let me just say that Edward Cullen is my new crush. if you were to ask any of my friends, not only would they agree with what im saying, but they would also tell you im completely insane about him . . .i don't know why im about to say this, since it isn't that big a deal, but i had a friend in English put a mini/temporary tattoo of his initials on my hand . . .it even has a little heart . . .i guess that pretty much shows how awesome this book is. one more thing, all my friends and i have gotten other people to read "twilight", either by telling them it's a good book or by them observing our facial expressions while we read it . . .
Posted by: Leah Koeppel at April 20, 2006 01:04 AMI LOVED TWILIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT WAS THE BEST BOOK EVER!
AFTER TWILIGHT... I WAS OBSESSED WITH VAMPIRES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sorry i just need to right another comment about twilight. i cant get over it. it scares me that i cant. lol. no other book can compare to twilight. i LUV edward i only hope to meet another vampire like him in real life. please dont laugh... . twilight is pretty much the only book that i am going to read until the sequel "new moon" comes out. i luv the romance in twilight and all the other books that i have read dont seem as great(or long) as twilight and when i do read other vampire romance novels and they are only maybe 200 pages or something, its like how can you fall in love in little amount of time. the other books dont go in so deeply as twilight does. you cant really feel what the characters are feeling unlike in twilight. i dont know its like twilight has changed my life 4ever or something. to me its like edward and bella and alice and jasper and emmett and carlisle and esme ahhhh all of the ppl in twilight are real people that i just talked to the other day or something. like i said the book goes so deeply into everything that i know them as real people. i dont just think of them as characters in a book. i think about every little thing that happened in that book and when i think of the moments that edward and bella have it gives ME butterflies. my friends think that im crazy by how obsessed i am with this book. thank you sooooo much stephenie meyer for making that dream you had into a book and pretty much making it my NEW reality.
Posted by: sam at April 30, 2006 02:09 PMI really, really loved this book! i cannot wait for New Moon to come out at all, I love books like this because it's fun to get lost and you start believing it's really happening. *sigh* wow, amazing.
